Without duplicating existing
SPUMC missions activities, the Social Justice Committee will work
toward spreading Christ’s
love in some of the following ways:
1) address environmental
health and environmental racism (natural world);
2) explore the potential for
bi-lingual tutoring (e.g., sign language), after-school subject
matter tutoring and adopt-a-school programs, and a response to hate
crimes (social community);
3) consider the role of
criminal and restorative justice, which holds a person accountable
to the victim and society, and take a look at gun control (political
community); and
4) examine a number of
economic community issues, for example, economic justice,
gambling, globalization and trade, and poverty. |
