ADULT
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
|
|
We believe adult Christian
education is important for everyone; and to that end, we offer a
great variety of classes and studies. Some run for the entire
"school year" and are not really designed to have people come and
go. These will be announced this summer. Other classes are
short-term, on a variety of topics. Classes are usually offered in
the fall, Advent, Lent and sometimes spring. Watch this website and
The Octagon for current class offerings. With questions or
suggestions, contact Rev. Lee Ferrell. |

DISCIPLE
BIBLE STUDY
Disciple #1
- Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study, is a 34-week study that takes
you on a journey from Genesis to Revelation. You will see how Scripture
fits together into the one coherent message of God's salvation. You
will spend 17 weeks in the Old Testament and 17 weeks in the New
Testament, culminating in a look at each believer's spiritual gifts.
Disciple #2
- Into
The Word Into The World, is a 32-week study that spends 8 weeks in each
of the following books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts. This study
encourages you to open yourself to hearing what God has to say through
the Bible and be guided into service in the world. Completion of
Disciple 1 is required.
Disciple #3
- Remember Who You Are, is
an intensive 32-week study is divided into two segments of 16 weeks
each. The first 16 weeks concentrates on the books of the prophets and
the second 16 weeks on Paul's letters. It includes the same thought
provoking questions for the individual and for the group as Disciple I
and Disciple II. It calls clergy and laity to disciplined Bible study
that will result in a ministering community nourished by Scripture
Disciple #4
- Under The Tree Of Life,
is an intensive 32-week study of Old and new Testament Writings. In the
Old Testament the books of Ruth, Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther,
Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Lamentations, and
Daniel are studied. In the new testament the Gospel of John; 1st, 2nd,
3rd John; James; Jude and Revelation are covered. It continues to call
clergy and laity to serious, disciplined Bible study that will result in
development of biblically nourished servant-leaders.
Disciple classes generally begin in the fall
each year. Watch the Current Events web page and the Octagon
