Sunday Worship Services
8:00 AM -
Informal
9:30 AM - Contemporary
11:00 AM Traditional
Each of our three Sunday morning
services of worship offers unique features:
The
8:00am worship
service
originated with a group of lay men and women who created a worship
setting that provides an informal opportunity for participants to both
witness to their faith and share in the context of prayer the joys and
concerns of life. While the pastors create
the order of worship and preach, the rest of the service is led by laity
from the congregation. Within the informal setting of this service
worshipers are invited to share with each
other joys and concerns as well as prayer requests
before all are invited to the alter for a time of prayer. This service
provides a uniquely intimate setting for
worship and all are welcome to join!
The
9:30am worship
service is
characterized by contemporary music which is led
by a praise team and the contemporary choir.
All who attend are encouraged to worship in
whatever way they feel led, whether that means standing, clapping, or
sitting. Our responses to God through worship will take a variety of
forms! This service is open to everyone and
is usually attend by a wide range of young adults
and families. This service is organized
and lead by the pastoral staff as well as the lay leaders of the
church. There is also a time of sharing of
joys and concerns and a time of prayer at the alter for the
congregation. We
regularly celebrate Communion, Baptism, and the
joining of new members. Also, we often
will highlight leadership from our Youth Ministry, Missions, Bible Study
Classes, Scouts, Children's Christian Education Programs, and various
special musical presentations. (A variety of Sunday School classes are
offered during this time as well).
The
11:00am worship
service is
characterized by the
rich liturgy and music that is a part of
the traditional Christian
worship experience.
The pastoral staff at SPUMC organizes the service, composes the liturgy,
and preaches; however a large amount of laity participate in the
leadership of this service. During this service we worship through a
variety of music which includes the singing of hymns,
pieces by the Sanctuary Choir, special soloists,
and pieces on the piano and organ.

welcoming congregation! Everyone is welcome to attend and participate
in any of our worship services. We hope to see you soon!
Wednesday Worship Service
During the summer months, SPUMC is
reaching out to those who travel and are away on Sunday and to those in
the community who don’t have a church home by providing a mid-week
service on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. The style of the service is blended
(combining all styles of music). It is casual,
informal, and personal with a message, prayer, music and sharing the
faith.

Our

worship-related services from the Pastors and then they are assigned to
their various responsibilities.

gather for fellowship in our Fellowship Hall

Eucharist Celebration
As United Methodist Christians, we
believe in a nurturing Triune God who desires a deep, loving and ongoing
relationship with His children. The Eucharist (also called "The
Lord's Supper" and "Holy Communion") is the visible sign of the baptized
Christian's covenant with God as initiated and revealed through Christ
Jesus.
All (of any age) are invited to the Lord's Table; the
sacrament of Holy Communion is offered the first Sunday of every month
as well as during other seasonal celebrations.
